We are excited to announce that after over a year of reproductive work Vinha is now confirmed well in foal to Saphiro! It’s been a long haul and we will wait with baited breath for the arrival of this very special Lusitano. Spring can’t come soon enough and this golden girl or boy is expected in April of 2014. Vinha is the only mare we bred this year as we continue to scale back on our breeding to focus more on our client services and own performance horses.

JC Armando’s first time being ridden off the farm with others! Nothing like a crazy warm-up arena to test the brain of a young baby horse. Add to that this young lad was a stallion and only recently gelded… well, we think Mando passed the test!

Our new site has just gone live! It has been a long, slow process and a big learning curve for Ben and I. It has been a tedious task moving and recreating content. My current project is filling up soon-to-be-published offspring pages. I need your help!! Do you have a Saphiro or El Espiritu offspring? We want your foal to be included on our website. Please submit your offspring using the below form. Offspring pages will be going live the first week in July and we want as many foals as we can get for it’s launch.

Our homebred, recently gelded JC Armando showed in his first dressage show this weekend! Shown by junior rider Hannah Pierucci, we couldn’t be prouder of Hannah and Mando. The judges loved him as much as we do and he won his first class with a 67.5%.

It was a great first day for us at the Virginia Summer Dressage show at Commonwealth Park in Culpeper, VA. We showed Espritu in the DSHB division where he won champion stallion, champion mature horse, and reserve grand champion! This qualifies him to show in-hand at Devon later this year.

Vinha has started work under saddle with our young riders Hannah Pierucci and Julia Dandridge. She has taken to the training well and has a wonderful attitude in all we ask of her. It is exciting to watch her movement develop as she is learning to carry herself.

Elk Creek DAY 1
Despite a short break of gait in dressage, we took first place! It’s a great setup for the next two phases, and the same placing we had two weeks ago in Kentucky. There’s definitely something about Viva that the judges like. In fact, in all four of the CDEs she’s competed in she has yet to be bested in the dressage arena.
